The Rivermouth

Where the two become one. The freshwater sacrifices its novelty to gain everything in return.

What a wonder how much this location changes from day to night, season to season. Yet, one thing remains unchanged…

There are many months where the river fails to greet its master. A change in season welcomes fresh rains that break down the wall between them.

The old friends unite once again. The river will always find its way back.

In a high tide there’s no spotting where the river ends and the ocean begins. Here, creatures of different worlds get the slightest view of what it’s like on the other side.

Dense jungle turns into unending horizon, waves grind smooth river rocks into sand, organisms and nutrients find their way to nurture sea creatures, and unfortunately, our plastic waste finds its final disposal, at the rivermouth.

Is it an end or is it a beginning? An indiscernible cycle.

The mouth of a river opens itself into the unknown. The vastness of the ocean. Each drop of water will someday make its way through this cycle anew. Knowing where it comes from and to where it is going, it’s not confused.

A return home. The rivermouth is where the circumstances of life complete themselves.
