Our nervous system has evolved to be on alert for danger, so the impulse for safety has been here from the beginning. The ways in which we seek safety today are indeed still connected to the original impulse, however, they materialize in a modern context. Which means, we are often looking for safety in our sense of belonging to culture.
Belonging enables one to relax into themselves long enough to feel their inherent creativity. The expression of creativity represents our drive to become. These two characteristics, belonging and becoming, intersect to create an integrated human being, living passionately from the heart.
